High Tension

High Tension…

It’s a horror movie with all the blood and brutal killings but has a fresh breeze into the horror cinema because of the way it establishes the story and also the wonderful twist in the movie esp. how the twist is revealed.

Now I want to see what I liked in this movie as a horror movie:

During the scores at the beginning, there are images of a creature... may be a girl that has been beaten and is bruised and also is murmuring that nothing comes between us any more… The focus is on two pairs of feet clasped on top of each other and swinging…

The movie begins with one of the girls running in the forest as a victim of a brutal attack on her trying to seek refuge…It builds suspense … makes you think that yeah this is the poor girl that is being chased and she jumps into the road for help.

A car pulls over and she screams at the window that she needs help.

It has all been nothing but a dream as the girl: Maries waked up at the back sit of the car from this nightmarish dream.

The story begins very happy and normal. Alex and Marie driving together. Marie drives and Alex offers to help. It states that they are college girls going home to take a vacation from partying and rather concentrate on studying. They have cool music on the way that establishes a cool, happy tone.

There is a shot at an old, rusty truck with a crazy looking man that is doing something to a head of a woman and then throws it out of the window. The head falls on the ground and we see that it’s the cut head of a woman. This shot establishes that there is something scary going on.

Now Marie drives, they stop on the way and Alex vanishes into a corn field in the night, Marie looks for her and boom here is the moment tat with every turn of each leaf you feel boom that is the moment … yeah that man in the truck is going to grab her … it give you the chill but doesn’t turn the chill to cheese so basically it turns as a joke hat Alex was playing on Marie

They arrive at Alex Parents’ house. We don’t get to know them much but just we know that she has a dear younger brother and parents. Marie is kind of strange in her encounter with parents.

They have a chat about Alex former bf and we can see that Marie is kind of getting upset. She leaves home for a cigarette and while sitting on the s wing at night, she sees the naked body of Alex, taking a shower. May be that is the ignite . As she comes in , goes to her room and with her jeans lies on bed with her head phones and starts masturbating as soon as she reaches the orgasm….
The truck arrives; the crappy truck at night, the driver knocks. Father open the door and is killed brutally is the worst sense of manner so is Hendrix, the cute dog. The killer has a blade and is not shy in using it on any parts of the body of the victims.

Marie is afraid 2 death. She arranges her bed as if no one has slept on it and dries the sink of the bathroom. Tries to use phone but there is no phone plug. You really can get into the fear of Marie as she is about to be killed by this guy and that is no joke. The guy comes in , checks everything, very cleverly even the bed springs to make sure that no one has slept on it. Finally he leaves and Marie sends out a sigh of relief…

The murderer kills the mum while Maries sees all as she hides inside the closet at the parent’s bedroom .. Alex has her mouth shot and her hands all in chains handcuffed to her feet. Marie tries to calm her and you are all the time on the verge of the chair thinking … You, shit head why do u speak so loud? The truck man is going to kill u next.

The little boy cries and we see the truck man chases him and kills him with a shut gun.

He comes back grabs Alex and puts her in the back of his dirty truck full of blood stains , gets her pic out of the album and drives away … Alex is trapped in the truck but tries opening the door with knife and finally succeeds as he pulls over to the gas station …

Alex goes in and the gas station man gets killed by the clever truck man … now , Marie follows her and the battle between Marie and the man and all this time you believe that it is just an ordinary horror movie but…

As soon as she’s done with killing him, the DA shows us the tape at gas station that it’s Marie that killed the gas station man and it all goes on that the brutal killer of Alex family was no one but Marie because of her lesbian love … darn clever?!
